This program is designed to full fill The State requirement for the 16-year-old GDL Law.
Our 16-year-old program is six hours of driving scheduled in three two hour sessions.
Upon successful completion of the six hours, the students’ learners permit will be validated, and their road test scheduled. The student will be presented with a progress report for parents to address the student’s weaknesses. A Certificate of Completion will be given to the student that can be presented to their insurance company for a discount on their premium.
The six-hour program includes:
- Detailed explanation of Instruments, Controls and Devices.
- Explanation of the use of mirrors and blind spots.
- Developing visual search patterns in residential, city and highway driving, known as S.I.P.D.E. (see pg. 184 of driver’s manual)
- Hand-over-hand steering, including hand positioning.
- Review of road signs.
- Turns
- 3-point turn (K-turn)
- Hill Parking
- Parallel Parking
- Backing up
- City Driving
- Highway Driving – including following distances, lane changing, escape routes, visual search patterns, and blind spots
